Forthcoming and past events.
It's summer 2010 and I've fallen in love with trees all over again - seems like a natural follow on from the cherries and growing things. Aborophilia is the gallery where you can see my first prints and some drawings I have been working on as prepapration for a new series.
Starting from either drawing or photos I work on the prints - using a variety of methods including etching, photo-etching, screen-print and linocuts. For etching, texture and shade are added to line work by using aquatint and/or sugar lift. All methods require a number of steps before even beginning to print. All require a combination of technical skill to ensure timings in the acid are correct and aesthetics to produce the required result.
I hope my prints will give people pleasure in looking at the image and the different marks and textures that are involved. So much time is spent on looking that each image seems to develop its own personality. This develops over the time spent creating the original artworks and then the plates to produce the prints. Each print is hand inked before passing through the press, the paper just the right dampness and the press just the right pressure.
I am currently studying for an MA in Multidisciplinary Printmaking at the University of the West of England, and am a member of Spike Print Studio in Bristol. If you are interested in finding out more about my work - you can use the contact form on this website or mobile 07963 094899.
