Time, space, and the natural world are the main inspirations for work that develops through mixed media practice. The environment with the sense of change over the millennia, stretching back into deep time, and forward into the future, is a constant concern as real time news enters the flux of historical future. The juxtaposition of different materials and processes is a key component of this endeavor as concept moves from idea, to actual and expressive material form with its own sensuous or metaphysical presence. Ongoing research into the nature of materiality informs this process from the importance of the ‘thing’, to the buzzing network of assemblages that make up the living world. A duality remains - is that 'thing' in the hall the waste bin that trips me up - or a swarm of electrons dancing with constant energy?
The Museum of Space Exploration provides space to display pieces of work each with their own narrative. Future archaeology, where 'stuff' has existed, or was created in the far future, and then discovered, is an inspiration, as alternative worlds can be imagined, with their own material cultures and artefacts.
